What's in each sachet?
One 2.4g sachet gives 2000mg of myo-inositol and 333mcg DFE of folate as methylfolate (L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, calcium salt), which is about 200mcg of folate. It's unflavoured, with 10 calories per sachet.
How do I take Myo-Folate?
Stir one sachet a day into at least 240ml (8 fl oz) of water or another still drink until it fully dissolves; avoid fizzy drinks. The 30 sachets are a one-month supply.
Should I keep taking it once I'm pregnant?
No — the label says Myo-Folate is not intended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so stop when you get a positive test and ask your GP or midwife which pregnancy supplement to switch to. It's for adult use only.
Does it replace my 400mcg folic acid?
Not on its own: NHS advice is 400mcg of folic acid a day while trying to conceive, and Myo-Folate provides about 200mcg of folate. Ask your GP or pharmacist how to combine it with your preconception supplement so you don't double up.
Why methylfolate instead of folic acid?
Methylfolate is the active form of folate the body uses directly, without the conversion step folic acid needs. Folate contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and has a role in the process of cell division.
Sachets or Fairhaven's Myo-Inositol capsules?
Myo-Inositol For Women and Men 120 Caps gives the same 2000mg of myo-inositol, but as four capsules a day and without folate. Myo-Folate puts both in one stir-in sachet, which suits anyone who'd rather not swallow capsules.
Can I take it with medication?
Check with your doctor first — the label asks anyone with a medical condition or taking medication to do so. Myo-inositol has no authorised health claims in the UK, so we describe the dose rather than promise results.
