How much lutein is in Lutein Forte?
Each Essensey Lutein Forte capsule has 100mg of marigold flower extract (Tagetes erecta) standardised to 20% lutein, which gives 20mg of lutein. One capsule is the daily portion, so the tub lasts 90 days.
What else is in the capsule?
1.5mg zinc (as zinc gluconate) and 120µg vitamin A (as retinyl acetate), each 15% of the reference intake. Zinc and vitamin A both contribute to the maintenance of normal vision.
Where does the lutein come from?
From the petals of the African marigold, Tagetes erecta, which is the usual commercial source of lutein. It's the same yellow carotenoid found in kale, spinach and egg yolk.
How should I take Essensey Lutein Forte?
One capsule a day with water, during a meal. Lutein is fat-soluble, so a meal with some fat in it, such as eggs, avocado or olive oil, is the best match.
Does it replace eye tests?
No, keep up your regular sight tests with an optician. See your GP or optician promptly about any change in your vision rather than relying on a supplement.
Is Lutein Forte safe with a multivitamin?
Usually yes, because the zinc and vitamin A amounts are modest at 15% of the reference intake each. Add up the vitamin A from all your supplements; the label says pregnant or breastfeeding women and children must not take it.
