Your questions, answered
What's in a serving of Carborade?
One 30g scoop gives 29g carbohydrate (3g of it sugars), 116 kcal, no fat or protein and 0.02g salt. The carbohydrate is maltodextrin, flavoured and sweetened with sucralose.
How do I use it?
Mix one 30g scoop with 300–350ml of water; FA suggests 2–3 servings a day, before, during and/or after exercise. The 1kg pouch holds 33 servings, so it lasts 11–16 days at that rate.
Is Carborade an electrolyte drink?
No — the label shows only 0.02g salt per serving and no added electrolytes, so it's a carbohydrate drink. For long, sweaty sessions, pair it with an electrolyte product such as Ultra Lyte Electrolyte Drops Sport, which we also stock.
Does it help recovery after long sessions?
Carbohydrates contribute to the recovery of normal muscle function (contraction) after highly intensive and/or long-lasting exercise that leads to muscle fatigue and depletes glycogen stores in skeletal muscle. That effect needs 4g of carbohydrate per kg of body weight within the first 4 hours and no later than 6 hours after exercise; each Carborade scoop gives 29g towards it.
How much sugar does it contain?
3g of sugars per 30g serving, about 10g per 100g of powder. Most of the carbohydrate is maltodextrin, which tastes far less sweet than a sugary sports drink.
Any allergens or warnings?
FA says it may contain cereals containing gluten, eggs and soy, and it isn't for pregnant or breastfeeding women. The colours include E104, which may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.
Which flavours are there?
Eleven: Blueberry, Grape, Grapefruit, Green Apple, Lemon, Lime, Mango, Melon, Orange, Strawberry and Watermelon. Carborade has the same 29g carbohydrate per scoop in all of them.
Individual results may vary.
