How to apply it
Change wet and soiled nappies promptly. Cleanse the nappy area and allow to dry. Apply cream liberally as often as necessary, with each nappy change - especially at bedtime or any time exposure to wet nappies may be prolonged.

How much zinc oxide is in Desitin Daily Defense?
13% zinc oxide, listed on the US Drug Facts as the skin protectant. It's the smooth everyday strength in the Desitin range, made to go on at every nappy change rather than only once a rash has flared.
When should I apply it?
At every nappy change: change wet or soiled nappies promptly, clean the area, let it dry, then apply the cream liberally. The label singles out bedtime and any time your baby will be in a wet nappy for longer.
Can I use it before there's any rash?
Yes — the label use is to help treat and prevent nappy rash, and the jar is marked for preventative use. It also protects chafed skin and helps seal out wetness.
What else is in the cream?
The base includes water, mineral oil, petrolatum, beeswax, dimethicone, glycerin, aloe leaf extract and vitamin E (tocopheryl acetate), preserved with phenoxyethanol. Desitin Daily Defense is free from parabens, phthalates, dyes and fragrance, and is paediatrician and dermatologist tested.
When should I stop and see a doctor?
Stop and ask a doctor or pharmacist if the rash gets worse, lasts more than 7 days, or clears up and comes back within a few days. It's for external use only, so keep it out of your baby's eyes and keep the jar out of children's reach.
Daily Defense cream or Maximum Strength paste?
Daily Defense, at 13% zinc oxide, is the creamy one for routine changes. The Desitin Maximum Strength paste we also stock is thicker with more zinc oxide (40% on the US label), and many parents keep it for a rash that's already there.
Should I buy the 454g jar or the 136g tube?
It's the same Daily Defense cream; the 454g (16oz) jar holds more than three times as much as the 136g tube. The jar suits the changing table at home, the tube the changing bag.
