What's in a daily serving?
Two Essensey Omega 3-6-9 capsules provide 500mg borage oil (100mg GLA), 165mg flaxseed oil (about 82mg ALA), 150mg fish oil (27mg EPA and 18mg DHA), 45mg CLA and 6.72mg vitamin E (56% NRV). Sunflower oil adds omega-6 and omega-9.
How do I take it, and how long does the tub last?
Take two capsules of Essensey Omega 3-6-9 a day with water, during or straight after a meal, so the 90 capsules last 45 days. Once the tub is open, the label says to finish it within 3 months.
Is it high in EPA and DHA?
No. 45mg of EPA plus DHA a day is modest, because the formula is built around borage oil's GLA. If fish-oil omega-3 is your priority, Essensey Omega-3 Fatty Acids, which we also stock, is the better fit.
What does it do?
The vitamin E in each daily serving contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. The 45mg of EPA and DHA is below the 250mg a day needed for the authorised heart-function claim, so we don't make one.
Who shouldn't take it?
The label says it's not for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women, and not to use it with breast cancer, suspected breast cancer or a family history of breast cancer, or with epilepsy. Don't use it if you're allergic to any ingredient.
Is Essensey Omega 3-6-9 suitable for vegetarians or allergy sufferers?
Not for vegetarians: it contains fish oil and a gelatine capsule. The label also says it may contain milk, soya, cereals containing gluten, eggs, peanuts and nuts.
