How much vitamin D3 and K2 is in each capsule?
One capsule gives 50 mcg (2,000 IU) of vitamin D3, 1,000% of the UK reference intake, and 75 mcg of vitamin K2 as MK-7, 100% of the reference intake. The 60-capsule tub of Trec Vitamin D3+K2 is a two-month supply.
How should I take it?
One capsule a day with water, ideally after a main meal. Both vitamins are fat-soluble, so taking them with food is the usual routine.
What do vitamin D and K actually do?
Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and use of calcium, the maintenance of normal bones and the normal function of the immune system. Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and to normal blood clotting.
Is 2,000 IU safe to take every day?
For adults, yes: UK advisers set 100 mcg (4,000 IU) a day as the upper limit, and one capsule is half that. Count any other vitamin D you take, such as a multivitamin, and don't take more than one capsule a day.
Can I take it if I'm on blood thinners?
Speak to your GP or anticoagulation clinic first. Vitamin K affects how warfarin-type medicines work, so even 75 mcg a day matters.
Is it suitable for vegans or during pregnancy?
No to both. The capsule shell is gelatine, and Trec's label says it isn't intended for children or for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
D3+K2 or Trec Vitamin D3 + Magnesium?
Choose D3+K2 if you want vitamin D alongside vitamin K for bones. Trec Vitamin D3 + Magnesium, which we also stock, pairs vitamin D with magnesium instead, so pick one rather than doubling up on vitamin D.
