400 µg of folic acid (pteroylmonoglutamic acid) in one capsule, which is 200% of the daily reference intake. One capsule is Trec's whole daily portion.
How long does the tub last?
90 days. The daily portion is one capsule, so Trec Nutrition Folic Acid 90 Caps is a three-month supply; taking it at the same meal each day makes it easy to remember.
What does folate do?
Folate contributes to normal blood formation, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal psychological function and the normal function of the immune system. It also contributes to normal amino acid synthesis, which is why it turns up in a sports range.
Is this the right folic acid for trying to conceive?
It contains 400 µg, the daily amount the NHS advises when trying to conceive and up to week 12 of pregnancy, and folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. Trec sells it as a general food supplement, though, so check with your GP or midwife, as some women are advised a higher prescribed dose.
Can I take it with a multivitamin?
Yes, but add up the folic acid first: many multivitamins already contain 200 µg or more. The NHS advises not taking more than 1 mg (1,000 µg) of folic acid a day from supplements unless a doctor recommends it.
Is it vegetarian?
No. The capsule shell is gelatine, coloured with titanium dioxide, and the other ingredients are maltodextrin and magnesium salts of fatty acids as an anti-caking agent.
