How strong are these pads?
Stridex Acne Pads with Aloe contain 0.5% salicylic acid, the gentlest strength in the Stridex range, compared with 2% in Stridex Maximum Strength pads. They're alcohol-free and contain aloe leaf juice and witch hazel water.
What does the label say they're for?
The label says they treat acne, reduce acne pimples and blackheads, help acne blemishes heal and help prevent new pimples from forming.
How often should I use them?
Start with once a day, then build up to two or three times a day if needed or as a doctor directs. If your skin gets bothersomely dry or starts peeling, cut back to once a day or every other day.
How do I use a pad?
Cleanse your skin thoroughly, wipe a pad over the affected area, then throw it in the bin rather than flushing it and wash your hands. The label says not to leave the pad on your skin for a long time.
Are they suitable for sensitive skin?
They're the soft option in the Stridex range, with 0.5% salicylic acid on an alcohol-free soft-touch pad, but the formula does contain fragrance and menthol. If your skin reacts easily, try them on a small area first, and don't use them at all if you're allergic to salicylic acid.
Can I use Stridex with benzoyl peroxide or other acne treatments?
Take care — the label warns that using another topical acne medication at the same time can increase dryness and irritation. If that happens, use only one at a time, and check with a pharmacist or GP if you're unsure.
What safety warnings should I know about?
They're for external use only, so keep them away from your eyes, lips and the inside of your mouth or nose. Keep the pot out of reach of children, and get medical help straight away if a pad is swallowed.
