What's in a serving of Wellness Formula?
Six capsules give 1,300 mg vitamin C, 1,500 mcg vitamin A, 20 mcg vitamin D3, 23 mg zinc, 60 mcg selenium and 162 mcg copper. They also contain 360 mg garlic, 295 mg propolis, 270 mg echinacea and 240 mg elderberry, plus about 20 more herbal extracts such as andrographis, olive leaf and astragalus.
How many capsules a day?
The everyday serving on the label is 4 to 6 capsules. At six a day the 120-capsule bottle lasts 20 days; at four, 30 days.
Can I take more when I feel run down?
Be careful. Six capsules already give 1,500 mcg of vitamin A and 23 mg of zinc, which is at or close to NHS limits (1.5 mg vitamin A a day from food and supplements, 25 mg zinc from supplements). The US label's short-term option of 6 capsules every 3 hours, up to 24 a day, goes far beyond that, so ask your GP or pharmacist before taking more than six.
What do the vitamins and minerals do?
Vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin A, zinc, selenium and copper all contribute to the normal function of the immune system. The herbs in Source Naturals Wellness Formula have no authorised UK health claims, so we don't promise what they do.
Is it suitable for vegetarians?
No. The capsule shell is gelatin, the formula includes propolis from bees, and the label states that it contains soy.
Can I take it if I'm pregnant?
No. The label says not to use Wellness Formula if you're pregnant, may become pregnant or are breastfeeding, and its 1,500 mcg of vitamin A per six capsules is another reason to avoid it in pregnancy.
