What's in FertileDetox?
A 3-capsule serving gives 250mcg vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin) and 340mcg DFE folate, plus a 1,920mg blend that includes milk thistle seed, green tea leaf extract, dandelion root, grape seed extract, calcium D-glucarate, N-acetyl L-cysteine (NAC), L-glycine, L-glutamine, citrus pectin, beetroot and probiotics. Vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue; the herbs and amino acids have no authorised health claims in the UK.
How do I take it, and how long does a bottle last?
Three capsules a day, preferably with a meal, either together or split through the day. The 90-capsule bottle is a 30-day supply for one person, so a couple taking FertileDetox together needs two bottles a month.
How far ahead of trying should we start?
Fairhaven Health suggests both partners take FertileDetox for at least three months before actively trying to conceive. Stop taking it as soon as pregnancy is confirmed.
Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Not in pregnancy: the label says to stop once you're pregnant. If you're breastfeeding, check with your GP or midwife first, and it isn't for anyone under 18.
Is it vegetarian, and does it contain allergens?
The capsules are vegetarian (hypromellose), but the label says the product contains milk ingredients, so it isn't suitable for vegans or anyone with a milk allergy. Retailer copies describe it as free from gluten, wheat and yeast.
Is it OK with medication or a health condition?
Ask your GP or pharmacist first. The label asks you to check with a doctor if you take prescription medication or have liver disease, a gallbladder condition or another medical condition.
Can we take it with FertilAid?
FertileDetox isn't a multivitamin: apart from B12 and folate it doesn't cover the full range, so couples often pair it with FertilAid for Women and FertilAid for Men, which we also stock. Add up the folic acid from both products if you do.
