What's in each capsule?
150mg of N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), with maltodextrin as the carrier, a hypromellose capsule shell and a magnesium-based anti-caking agent. NAC makes up 30% of the capsule's contents.
How do I take it?
One capsule a day with water. The 90 capsules in ESSENSEY NAC last three months.
Why does the jar say 'glutathione precursor'?
NAC is an acetylated form of the amino acid cysteine, and cysteine is one of the three amino acids the body uses to build glutathione. NAC itself has no authorised health claims in the UK, so we don't promise antioxidant or detox results.
Why 150mg when other NAC products are 500mg or more?
ESSENSEY NAC is a low-dose, one-a-day capsule. If you're comparing doses, Fairhaven Health NAC 500mg (90 capsules), which we also stock, has more than three times as much per capsule, but check its label for how many to take.
Can I take NAC if I'm pregnant or on medication?
Speak to your doctor first. The Essensey label asks pregnant or breastfeeding women and anyone taking medication to consult a doctor before using it.
Why does it smell a bit like sulphur?
That's normal for NAC, because cysteine contains sulphur. You may notice a faint smell when you open the tub, but swallowing the capsules whole means you won't taste it.
