How strong are these TUMS?
Ultra Strength: each tablet has 1000mg of calcium carbonate, which provides 410mg of elemental calcium. That's more per tablet than TUMS Extra Strength, which has 750mg.
How many tablets can I take?
Adults and children 12 and over chew 2 to 3 tablets as symptoms occur, chewing or crushing them completely before swallowing. Don't take more than 7 tablets in 24 hours.
What does TUMS Ultra Strength relieve?
The label covers heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach and upset stomach associated with these symptoms. Don't use it for symptoms lasting more than 2 weeks unless a doctor advises it, so speak to a pharmacist or GP if heartburn keeps coming back.
Can I take them while pregnant?
The label allows it, with a lower limit: no more than 5 tablets in 24 hours, and not at the maximum dose for more than 2 weeks unless a doctor is supervising. If you're unsure, check with your midwife, GP or pharmacist.
Can I take TUMS with my other medicines?
Ask a doctor or pharmacist first if you take any prescription medicine. The label warns that antacids may interact with certain prescription drugs.
What else is in the berry tablets?
Alongside calcium carbonate, the Assorted Berries tablets contain sucrose, corn starch, flavours, mineral oil, talc, adipic acid, sodium polyphosphate and the colours FD&C Blue 1 and Red 40 lakes. TUMS says its varieties are gluten-free.
Ultra Strength 160 or TUMS Extra Strength 96?
Both are chewable calcium carbonate antacids. This bottle gives you 160 tablets at 1000mg each, while TUMS Extra Strength 96 has 96 tablets at 750mg, and each has its own daily maximum on the label.
